Eyes closed, hiding away from reality, 

Never realized feelings fade into insanity,

She saw you right there smiling, just an inch away

and yet, your eyes never turned her way.  

With unsaid words, with child-like affection, 

She stared at you, with unanswered questions, 

Your eyes didn't speak love, she knew,

and yet, she dreamt of more seconds with you. 

You felt nothing, starring at those ordinary eyes, 

She was no angel, your expectations never sufficed, 

But for you, tears rolled down her flawed face, 

and yet, you couldn't protect her innocent smile.
